Signs of spring are all around with new growth and blossom appearing on the grapefruit, lime, orange, and tangerine trees. The amaryllis is in full bloom, as are the hibiscus and ixora beds.

Birdlife is plentiful. One morning, I realised a jaco parrot was looking down on the garden from one of the surrounding forest trees. On another morning, I saw our resident broad-winged hawk breakfasting on a tree lizard. A new visitor – at least one I’ve never seen before – was a Lesser Antillean Saltator.

Somewhat appropriately, it’s April Fools Day and the wind and rain have returned. And there I was, thinking the wet season was finally over.
