Paul Crask is from Yorkshire, England. He has been living in Dominica since 2005.

He is the author of four editions of two Bradt Travel Guide titles (Dominica and Grenada), he has created and published several independent magazines (Dominica Traveller, Dominica Geographic, Gade Mwen), and he works as a freelance travel and culture writer.

Paul is also a self-taught, developing artist. His ink and watercolour paintings depict island-inspired imagined buildings, often with surreal twists and a touch of humour. His oil paintings include island landscapes as well as more expressive works that use layered tones and geometric forms. As an outsider looking in, Paul aspires to create paintings that feel rooted in Dominica while leaving room for imagination and personal interpretation.

Before moving to Dominica, Paul lived and worked in England, Germany and Japan. He holds a BA Hons from the University of Leeds and he also spent time studying behind the Iron Curtain at the then Karl Marx University of Leipzig in former East Germany.

In Dominica, Paul lives on the outskirts of the village of Giraudel at an elevation of around 2,000 feet. The climate is ideal for growing coffee and cocoa, and when he is not painting or writing, he enjoys cultivating and processing both. Paul is an insatiable traveller and is usually planning his next journeys.
